Alcohol and Substance Abuse

BOAST (Building Our Assets for a Safer Tomorrow):
nonprofit consulting organization with the goal of reducing youth risk-taking behaviors by involving all sectors of the community using the "asset approach"; free presentations and consultations. Leslie Williamson 643-2440 or Linda Addante (802) 649-5286, boast@valley.net, www.boastonline.org.

Headrest:

AVA Gallery and Art Center:
nonprofit gallery with monthly exhibitions by New Hampshire and Vermont artists; offers classes for adults, children, and teens; scholarships available. 448-3117, ava@valley.net, www.avagallery.org

Dartmouth Exhibitions:
current exhibits at the various galleries in the Hood Museum, Hopkins Center, and Dartmouth libraries are listed in the Vox biweekly college newspaper, 646-3045, vox.of.dartmouth@dartmouth.edu, www.dartmouth.edu/~news

Ferngully & Moss:
offers modern artworks in Enfield gallery; sponsors workshops, gallery talks, readings, and multimedia events; welcomes educational partnerships with secondary school educators. M. Moss, 632-9200, moss@ferngullyandmoss.com

Friends of the Hopkins Center and Hood Museum:
supports the Hopkins Center and Hood Museum of Art's efforts to foster ways in which the visual and performing arts enrich our lives. 646-2006.

Hood Museum of Art:
frequently-changing special exhibitions, plus permanent collection including an important set of ancient Assyrian reliefs, European and American paintings, and an extensive collection of Native American and African art; free admission. Howe Library:

League of New Hampshire Craftsmen:
nonprofit organization of craft artists; six locations throughout New Hampshire; Hanover gallery exhibits and sells fine traditional and contemporary craft; craft classes offered. 643-5050, hanleague@valley.net

Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park:
nineteenth century house and gardens in Woodstock containing art collection of the period; for information on docent led tours and special programs. (802) 457-3368.

Orozco Murals:
series of frescoes by the renowned Mexican muralist Jose Clemente Orozco located in the reserve corridor of Baker Library; pamphlet available. For tours, contact the Hood Museum, 646-1469.

Saint Gaudens National Historic Site:
sculptures by Augustus Saint Gaudens at the site of his home, studio, and gardens in Cornish; summer concert series. 675-2175, ext. 107, saga@valley.net

Children's events:
published monthly in The Upper Valley Parents' Paper.

Dartmouth events:
